On August 1, 2013 called the “Day of Anger” by activists, a small gathering organized by human rights group Independent Jewish Voices of Canada stood in front of the Israeli Consulate in Toronto to protest the Prawer Plan bill, which if fully implemented, would remove up to 40,000 Bedouin people from their homes in the Naqab desert.
What do you think about the Prawer Plan?
Read about it and decide for yourself.
Below are some testimonials from people at the protest.
"It’s my moral obligation, as a human being, as a woman and as a Muslim to advocate for a humanitarian cause." - Fatima Rashed
"Jews have no more or less intrinsic moral authority than anybody else. I recognize the presence of Jews at protests like this, is far more threatening to the Jewish establishment, unfortunately, than the voices of Palestinians." - Mr. Kumin
"I am here as a Jew and as a human being. This will not be done in my name. If I being Jewish helps break the silence over the latest act of ethnic cleansing then fine. Zionism needs to get out of my identity and it needs to be purged from Palestine." - Mr. Kumin
"It is lip service that the Israeli government has been known to provide just to cover up for their dirty crimes. I don’t understand how uprooting people from their homes to continue their expansion at the expense of innocent individuals is right." - Fatima Rashed

A short multi-media piece I put together last December for the women fighters at Toronto Kickboxing and Muay Thai (TKMT). Make sure to watch it in HD on Vimeo s’il vous plait!
